“Dobson Building + Remodeling, founded in 1987 has provided residential & commercial building and remodeling to families & communities throughout Northern Virginia. Our work includes individually customized design & build features from kitchens and bathrooms to additions, whole house renovations and foundation & structural repairs to existing facilities.

The scope of our work ranges from in-house planning and design services, all-encompassing architectural services, the highest quality workmanship in the market and the assurance of an unprecedented warranty program. The remodeling process can be overwhelming and we understand this.  Our ultimate goal is to provide a collaborative, stress-free and honest approach that meets your family or business needs.

Rick Dobson, a long-time Alexandria, VA resident, developed his passion for remodeling while studying at SUNY-Binghamton.  During summers off from his coursework, Rick spent time working for a custom home builder in Arlington, VA, as well as working independently.  It was in these settings where he not only cemented the desire to work with his hands, but also developed a sense for what it meant to be an entrepreneur.

Rick started his own business building custom decks out of college, expanding later when he founded Dobson Building + Remodeling in 1987. As the company evolved and grew, Rick added Eric Kluge to the team as project manager in 2005. An Arlington native, Eric earned his degree at the University of Virginia.  He worked as a carpenter in both Northern California and in Arlington prior to joining Dobson, where he now oversees the construction phase of each project.
